BLACK STONE CHERRY Taps BILLY RAY CYRUS For Official 'The Rambler' Video
July 21, 2016Country singer Billy Ray Cyrus — father of pop-superstar Miley Cyrus — has partnered with Kentucky rockers BLACK STONE CHERRY on a music video for the band's beautifully haunting ballad "The Rambler". Cyrus stars in the clip as the title character The Rambler, a drifter who tries to face his past in a simple tale of guilt, heartache, and longing for redemption.
The video was directed by fellow Kentuckian Blake Judd (Shooter Jennings, BLACKBERRY SMOKE).
"If you are ready to hear a great band with an incredible song, hit play,” Cyrus said.
"I was honored when they asked me to bring 'The Rambler' to life. Make something real? Hell yeah. I'm in!"
BLACK STONE CHERRY said added: "'The Rambler' has been an incredibly special song to us from the beginning and we knew the video had to be equally as special, but not too over dramatic. Simple and effective.
"We are honored to have Billy Ray Cyrus as The Rambler in the video, as well as the many amazing actors and team it took to make this story come to life. We hope this special song and video hits a chord with you like it has for us."
"The Rambler" was co-written by former SHINEDOWN guitarist Jasin Todd and is taken from BLACK STONE CHERRY's fifth studio album, "Kentucky", which was released on April 1 via Mascot Label Group. The band recorded the effort at Barrick Recording in Glasgow, Kentucky. Taking a "back-to-the-roots" approach, the CD was produced in the same way and same place as BLACK STONE CHERRY's eponymous debut album, which broke the band out of the small southern backwater and onto the world stage.
BLACK STONE CHERRY frontman Chris Robertson stated about "The Rambler": "There's just something about that song. I remember being in the studio and I was singing it and trying to keep back from crying the whole time, thinking about my grandpa and just being away from my kid and wife and stuff and I got to the last chorus and just had to stop."
